My Glace Bay is an online magazine that showcases good news in our community.
In it’s prime Glace Bay was a booming place where “coal was king” and it was once considered the largest town in Canada. However, with the mine closures, Glace Bay has found that it has needed to reinvent itself. This magazine started out featuring interviews with individuals from Glace Bay who made an impact on the town in the past as well as individuals who are now making an impact that will create cultural memories for the future. Who is here and why should people want to come here? In interviewing a diverse range of people from the community, this magazine paints a picture of “us” as a community. The magazine includes interviews, pictures, video, and current events to show our rich history and continue to write our current day history.
Now that I write a monthly column for the Cape Breton Post about the people in Glace Bay, I mainly focus on events, places of interest, and people in the past on this website, along with some of my own adventures in the town. If you want to see more interviews about the people in the town, you will have to subscribe to the Cape Breton Post.
I hope you enjoy the magazine, and the new stories I am able to share with you.
